The conference will gather scholars who in their research have shown interest in the historical and methodological interchange of stemmatology and the natural sciences. The concept of metaphérein will stimulate the scholarly 'transfer' between diverse academic fields and will promote future collaboration on an international level. The idea of metaphor also involves the fact that we are bound to inherited traditions of disciplinary, institutional, and national thinking that needs reflection in exchange with others.
